Elizabeth Zona, DO, D.ABA, FASAM

Dr. Zona is double board-certified in Anesthesiology and Addiction Medicine, brings nearly a decade of experience as a Medical Director across both of her specialties, and has amassed 31.5K followers and millions of views on Tiktok, @addictiontokdok. In 2016, Dr. Zona lost a childhood friend to opioid overdose. In hindsight, she recognized pivotal moments that lacked preventative education and likely changed the trajectory of her friend’s life. Dr. Zona leverages her understanding of commonly abused drugs to provide youth with functional training that could have protected her friend’s life.

As a physician and mother of 2, Dr. Zona sees how most parents don’t have pharmacology and physiology training, and they aren’t equipped to have complete, factual conversations with their children on substance use as they transition to adulthood. She sees young people having questions that deserve honest answers and knows they “will either find them from a legitimate source like DopaGE, or from a peer that might minimize risk and exaggerate reward. We are here, ready to teach.” Dr. Zona completed her residency at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, received her doctorate at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and her B.S. from Penn State University.
