About DopaGE

DopaGE = Dopamine General Education

DopaGE teaches students how to prevent, recognize, and respond to overdoses in the way they like to learn*

Drug overdose is the leading cause of death for GenZ and Millennial Americans. Preventable, accidental overdose deaths have increased 9% each year for 2 consecutive decades*, now claiming the lives of over 100,000 people each year. When at least 46% of college students use an illicit drug throughout the year*, administrators need an actionable overdose prevention strategy their students will engage with and consistently adopt.

DopaGE is providing students with virtual, gamified, and evidence-based education to prevent overdose fatalities. Our learning modules are designed by neuroscientists to maximize students’ engagement with and retention of lesson material. Contact us to learn more.

PREVENT.

RECOGNIZE.

RESPOND.

In the spring of 2020, the founders of DopaGE were university students who saw overdose deaths on their campus rise to double digits in just one school year. The last death, in May, was a friend of DopaGE’s founder. Through grief and frustration, she believed overdose deaths could be prevented. Yet, there was no comprehensive effort that she, an EMT and pre med student of Computational Neuroscience, could see to educate college students on their power to combat the overdoses posing such a risk to their community’s health. With the support of peers in neuroscience and healthcare, a non-profit by-students-for-students was formed to prevent further overdose deaths around their campus.

In the year following, that initial campus did not see another accidental overdose death. Several overdoses still occurred - though less frequently - yet the student community was trained to successfully prevent the overdoses from becoming fatal. Numerous lives were saved by fellow students, the campus community avoided further substance use tragedies.

The non-profit’s educational seminars are led by live speakers, making their documented life-saving effects challenging to replicate. When each and every college student in the United States needs protection against overdose - now the leading cause of death in their age group - such barriers must be overcome. Thus, DopaGE is bringing that highly-effective overdose prevention training into the digital age to scale the same life-saving impact to campuses across the United States.

How it Started

Let’s grow your students’ Attention & Autonomy.

ATTENTION

Data from neuroscience research show that direct attention is required for long-term memory formation*. Our cartoon animated lessons and gamified quizzes ensure students stay tuned into the life-saving information provided by DopaGE.

In our 2023 case study of 300 college students, 94% said they preferred DopaGE lessons over any other substance use education they had previously received*.

AUTONOMY

The young adult brain critically prioritizes developing a sense of autonomy*. For this reason, DopaGE is designed to support students’ self efficacy to make well-informed decisions independently.

DopaGE provides students with peer-reviewed data on how substances affect the brain and body, without directly discouraging use. This approach keeps students feeling confident and in control of their choices, protecting them from peer pressure.
